A training guide for faculty to learn to use library resources for teaching purposes

Faculty Access to ClinicalKey Student

There are two ways for faculty to access ClinicalKey Student:

1. Access from the ClinicalKey Student link on the Databases page of the library website. From here, you can login to your personal account using the same Elsevier credentials used for the regular ClinicalKey. Once you have this account setup, you can also access directly at clinicalkey.com/student.

*Note: This is the student view and will not include the Build an Assessment features. For those features, you must use the instructor view, which is accessible through Canvas.

2. Instructor access through Canvas. From here, faculty will be able to share content, build assessments, and track students progress. Follow the steps below to access the instructor assessment tools through Canvas:

  • You must first add ClinicalKey Student as an External Tool to a module in a Canvas course, as shown below.

  • Select ClinicalKey Student from the list of external tools
  • Be sure to check the box 'Load in a New Tab' - this is essential in order to access the Instructor Tools
  • Click Add Item

  • Next, to launch ClinicalKey Student from the newly added link in Canvas, be sure to launch in a new window so you will see al the instructor tools.

  • Once launched, you should see the following highlighted instructor tools at the top of the page.

  • To find assessment questions, click on Assessment Builder, and then Build an Assessment.

  • You can browse questions from 3 questions banks. Only faculty have access to the sequestered questions. Students have access to the Step 1 and Step 2 banks.
