Pursuing Personal and Professional Wellness

What is Wellness?

Wellness is "the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health" (Global Wellness Institute).

Furthermore, wellness is multidimensional, focusing on diverse areas of health including:

  • Physical wellness: caring for your physical health
  • Mental or intellectual wellness: caring for your mind through learning
  • Emotional wellness: caring for your emotions and understanding your feelings
  • Spiritual wellness: caring for your need to find meaning and purpose in life, as well as connection with God
  • Social wellness: caring for your relationships and community
  • Environmental wellness: caring for our surroundings, including the natural environment (nature/climate/air), social environment (interactions with society and issues like racism or bullying), and our local environment (living conditions, access to resources like food/water/shelter)
